Mandatory Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA)

The Department of Immigration and Emigration of Sri Lanka has informed that it is mandatory for the foreign nationals travelling to Sri Lanka to obtain a valid Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) before commencing their journey to Sri Lanka unless they already possess any of the following:

·A valid Sri Lankan Visa;

·A valid Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA);

· A valid Sri Lankan Dual Citizenship Certificate;

·5(1) / 5(2) Registration under Citizenship Act of Sri Lanka for passengers below 22 years of age;

·A valid Entry Visa;

·A Valid Landing Endorsement issued by the Department of Immigration and Emigration;

· Any other travel authorization or exemption recognized under the Immigrants and Emigrants Act, No. 20 of 1948, as amended, including persons travelling to Sri Lanka for official purposes who are exempt from the ETA requirement.

Direct travellers are advised to visit the official ETA system (www.eta.gov.lk) to obtain an ETA before travelling to Sri Lanka

Ambassador Aryasinha delivers the Sri Lanka National Statement at the 23rd Session of the HRC

Ambassador Ravinatha Aryasinha, Sri Lanka's Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva and Leader of the Sri Lanka Delegation to the 23rd session of the UN Human Rights Council (HRC) delivering the national statement on Monday (27 May 2013), apprised the Council of progress with regard to reconciliation in Sri Lanka since its last session in March 2013, Sri Lanka’s engagement with the Council and its mechanisms and on Sri Lanka’s position with regard to thematic issues of relevance to the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.

The Sri Lanka delegation to the 23rd session includes Ms. Manisha Gunasekera, Deputy Permanent Representative in Geneva, Mr. Buwaneka Aluwihare, Deputy Solicitor General, Ms. Priyanga Wickramasinghe, Counsellor in PRUN Office Geneva and Mr. Madhuka Wickramarachchi, Asst. Director of the Ministry of External Affairs from Colomobo. The session which commenced on 27th May will continue until 14th June.
